Vrvana’s long awaited Kickstarter campaign has launched. The company is seeking $350,000 CAD to produce a dev kit of their new Totem VR headset. The Totem will offer some unique selling points compared to other VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, for example a stereo-pair of front-facing cameras for 3D passthrough video and inside-out positional tracking, dual on-headset headphone plugs, per-eye lens focus, and hardware acceleration.
Vrvana aims to use a low-persistence 1080p display with an RGB sub-pixel structure, which might be better than the pentile structure that the Rift DK2 and Gear VR have to offer.
